Mike Collins

Cardiff-based artist Mike Collins has been working in comics since the mid 80's. He's written and drawn strips for publishers on both sides on the Atlantic, most notably Marvel, DC and 2000AD. He currently draws the Doctor Who Magazine comics. Mike currently has an office a floor below the Dinamo office and is probably the first comics professional I've met. When I started working at Dinamo, it became clear that I'd have to learn about comics as animators tend to be avid collectors of comic art. Through Mike, I was able to borrow a number of books that have since set me collecting a large number of trade paperbacks and individual stories. When I had the idea to begin this resource and banner sketch series, Mike was the first person I asked to contribute and he's been a great help introducing me to a large number of other artists and writers, including D'Israeli and Ian Edgington, Lew Stringer and lots of people at the 2007 Birmingham convention. Mike seems to know everybody!
