Mark was sharing a table with Bryan Talbot, but I'd missed him the previous day and knew I had to return to get a copy of their new book Cherubs, which Bryan had written. It's surprising how many artists are confounded by the banner frame and many produce character line-ups. I'm used to the widescreen frame because of my film work (and personal preference for cinemascope) but the vast majority of comics are produced in the portrait frame and only feature wide frames when there are very specific circumstances. However, as in this case, they usually give me a good opportunity to see the artist's work and get an introduction to a new book. Cherubs was great fun and very irreverent and look forward to reading the next book in the series soon! (Bristol International Comics Expo 2008) |
