John M. Burns
John began his illustration career on a number of magazines and newspapers, including Junior Express, The Daily Mirror and The Sun. His work includes The Seekers, Danielle and Judge Dredd, although he reportedly finds Dredd unpleasant to draw. More recently, he's contributed to Nikolai Dante and illustrated Jane Eyre for Classical Comics.

I saw John's stand at the last Bristol convention but, as I was new to the whole comics thing at the time and hadn't started collecting sketches, I passed by. This time I took the trouble to stop and have a look at his work while getting a pencil sketch. John is a more classical artist who always hand paints his work and has done a number of stories for 2000AD in this style. More recently, he's been working on an adaptation of Jane Eyre for Classical Comics and it certainly looks like it continues his tradition of highly detailed painted comics.
