Gary Northfield
Artist and illustrator for a number of magazines including Horrible Histories and The Magical World of Roald Dahl. More recently he's been writing and drawing several regular series in UK comics, including Derek the Sheep, Little Cutie and Pinky's Crackpot Circus.

On the Sunday, I decided to go around the smaller hall at the convention and visit some of the stalls but small press publishers. Gary had previously done me a sketch at the Bristol convention of Derek the Sheep and I was able to pick up a copy of his newly published hardback of Derek strips. This sketch is of one of his other strips, Pinky's Crackpot Circus, which I'd spotted on his website before travelling to the con. (Birmingham International Comic Show 2008)

My last DC Thompson sketch of the weekend and from a strip called Derek the Sheep. Gary's done a number of different comics for the Beano and now The DFC and has also been illustrating the Horrible Histories books. I really like this style - it's more dynamic than the old comics I used to read but has the same irreverent humour. (Bristol International Comics Expo 2008)
