When I first started this little art collection of mine, I visited the Bristol Comics Expo and picked up a number of banners from Beano and Dandy artists who were sketching at the DC Thompson stand. Since these comics were the ones I bought as a young lad (not the Marvel and DC stuff), it was great to meet some of the people who had contributed to my childhood. I kept in touch with one of the editors, Gordon Tait, and he very kindly sourced not only a signature from Tom Patterson (Sweeney Toddler) but also this banner from David Sutherland, artist since the early Sixties for strips such as Dennis the Menace, The Bash Street Kids, Biffo the Bear and plenty of others I remember reading avidly every week. David still draws The Bash Street Kids and I can't tell you how great it is to have a personal sketch by someone responsible for so much comics history. A big thank you to both David and Gordon for taking their time to do all this and indulge a fan! (Personal Commission)
