David began his career working for Marvel UK on a number of horror and tv titles before joining Warrior comic to draw V for Vendetta, scripted by Alan Moore. Further work includes Hellblazer, Espers and Global Frequency as well as his recent self-scripted graphic novel, Kickback.

My last sketch of the convention was caught just at the last minute while the rest of the room was busy packing up. David and Mike Collins were sharing a table at the end of the Asylum Comics stall and I had just wandered over to join Mike on our way to see Star Trek in the IMAX. David was still sketching, mainly because he'd been working on his Cartoon Classroom stall all day and had somewhat neglected his own stack of books available to purchase. The sketch is a landscape study, a definite departure from the normal character portraits I get. In fact, this is the only landscape drawing I've received! (Birmingham International Comics Show 2009)

David was sitting next to Mike Collins all weekend and so I took the opportunity to get another sketch from him in return for buying another of his books, The Territory. Later that evening a large group of us went for dinner and I got a chance to talk to David further. Definitely need to watch the V For Vendetta film now! (Birmingham International Comic Show 2008) |
Another artist of a classic series! David was signing at the 2000AD stand at the same time as Dave Gibbons but his queue was way too long so I decided to try again the next day. However, I passed by Sean Phillips' stand and spotted a notice saying that David would be signing there in about half and hour. Luckily, David turned up and had no queue at all so I managed to get an excellent sketch of V and a copy of his new book Kickback, which I hope to get a second sketch from at a later date!
