Charlie, like many Uk artists, started work on 2000AD before moving onto US comics such as The X-Files, Batman, Green Lantern and The Walking Dead. His fast, noirist style makes his work instantly identifiable and is a contrast to his earlier, fully-painted art on Armitage. Wikipedia entry Home page

Charlie's a very quick artist and it was really interesting to see him build shape and shadow with chunky lines of black ink. I really like bold shadow in films (not seen enough in my opinion) and comics are no exception. Like Matt Brooker and Sean Phillips' work, Charlie's style really suits the horror genre and I'm really looking forward to reading The Walking Dead when the books wing their way from the Amazon warehouse. And yes, that is Charlie giving a thumbs up! (Birmingham International Comic Show 2007) |
